Di dalam kehidupan sehari-hari kita sering mendengar kata ‘Ta’lim’ atau dalam bahasa Arab (تعليم). Biasanya orang menyebut majelis ta’lim, atau mau pergi ke ta’lim, atau banyak juga buku-buku yang judulnya berkaitan dengan ta’lim.
Jika anda orang yang berkecimpung di dunia pendidikan Islam, tentu tidak asing lagi dengan kata ta’lim. Pada artikel kali ini kita akan membahas definisi ta’lim dan perbedaannya dengan tadris.

Definisi Ta’lim Secara Bahasa
Jika kita melihat di dalam kamus bahasa atau kamus definisi kata ‘ta’lim’ tidak mempunyai arti langsung. Artinya, kita harus mellihat dari wazan fi’il dalam bahasa Arab yaitu melalui kata kerja (تعلّم – يتعلّم – تعليما).
Fungsi fi’il ini dalam ilmu sharaf adalah untuk ‘taktsir’ atau banyak atau berulang-ulang. Kata kerja ini sendiri berarti mempelajari (Kegiatan belajar atau mengajar). Maka, kata ‘ta’lim yang merupakan bentuk mashdar bisa kita artikan secara bahasa sebagai Pembelajaran.
Definisi Ta’lim Secara Istilah
Secara Istilah kata ta’lim memiliki beberpa definisi. Pertama, Ta’lim (Pembelajaran atau kegiatan belajar mengajar) merupakan proses penambahan kapasitas pikiran atau pengetahuan yang sebelumnya belum pernah dipelajari.
Ibnu Katsir telah membagi ilmu kedalam 3 macam, ilmu yang berkaitan dengan intelektualitas yang potensinya terpendam dan tersembunyi di dalam pikiran yang mengalir di otak manusia, kemudian ilmu yang berada pada lisan yang berkaitan dengan lafaz dan pembicaraan, kemudian ada ilmu formal atau resmi yang tertuang dalam tulisan-tulisan di buku-buku dan punya pola yang teratur.
Kedua, Ta’lim didefinisikan sebagai tindak proses yang terorganisir yang bertujuan mempertemukan seseorang dengan berbagai informasi Konstruktivisme pengetahuan dan dilakukan dengan cara yang akurat dan punya tujuan yang jelas.
Ketiga, Ta’lim dipahami sebagai proses menstimulasi dan menstimulasi kekuatan mental dan aktivitas diri peserta didik, selain itu juga memberikan suasana dan kemampuan yang sesuai yang membantu peserta didik untuk melakukan perubahan dalam tingkah lakunya yang dihasilkan dari rangsangan internal dan eksternal, yang menegaskan terjadinya pembelajaran.
Perbedaan Ta’lim dan Tadris
Tadris adalah serangkaian kegiatan yang terorganisir yang diarahkan oleh guru baik dalam praktik maupun teori yang merupakan proses yang bertujuan untuk mencapai tujuan tertentu.
Tadris bisa juga dilihat sebagai semua kondisi dan kemampuan yang diberikan oleh guru pada posisi mengajar tertentu dan tindakan yang diambil oleh guru dalam rangka membantu peserta didik mencapai tujuan yang telah ditetapkan untuk posisi tersebut.
Baik Ta’lim dan Tadris artinya sama-sama pembelajaran (Kegiatan belajar) yangkeduanya merupakan aktivitas yang berarti yang dilakukan oleh manusia. Namun, ta’lim bersifat umum dan komprehensif, tidak seperti tadris yang bersifat khusus dan terbatas, dan yang dimaksud secara umum dan khusus adalah melewati batas-batas sekolah ke dalam kehidupan individu lebih jelasnya.
Perbedaan lainnya adalah ta’lim tidak selalu membutuhkan guru karena seseorang dapat menjadi guru bagi dirinya sendiri, tidak seperti tadris yang dianggap sebagai perilaku sosial, yaitu harus ada siswa dan guru, dan harus ada interaksi yang relatif banyak antara guru dan siswa.
Tadris juga merupakan suatu rangkaian perilaku yang disengaja dan terorganisir di lembaga tertentu, yang diselenggarakan oleh badan tertentu yang mencakup sekelompok peneliti, sarjana dan pembimbing untuk mencapai tujuan akademik tertentu.
Sedangkan ta’lim merupakan suatu tindakan tidak sukarela yang melampaui batas kehidupan sekolah dalam berbagai bidangnya. Namun, kita juga tidak memungkiri bahwa ta’lim mempunyai tujuan, tetapi tujuannya tidak dipelajari dan tidak dapat diterapkan pada sekelompok individu, karena perbedaan dari satu orang ke orang lain.
